How do you put a blade on a circular saw?
When the circular saw blade is wearing out it can burn the marks on the wood or chip the surface, cutting more slowly and putting wear on the saw motor. The replacement blades are inexpensive and there are some tool outlets which are offering the recycling program that will let you exchange the old blade for the discount on a new one, so there are no reasons for keeping the used worn blade. The procedure for replacing the blade doesn’t differ much from one model t another, but you will need the hex-wrench, instead of the standard wrench for the battery powered saw.

- Unplug the saw if it is having the power cord. If it is powered by battery then remove the battery.
- Place the saw on the wooden surface and pull back the blade guard. If the saw has an arbor lock button on the top of the housing then press it inside. The arbor is the shaft the blade which is installing on. If there is no lock button then press the blade on the wooden surface.
- Fit the wrench around the nut of the arbor. If it is battery powered saw, then the arbor nut may have a slot for the hex-wrench. If so then insert one in the slot.
- Rotate the wrench in the same direction as the blade turns. That direction is counterclockwise for the direct drive saws and clockwise for the worm drive ones. Keep the arbor button depressed while you will unscrew the nut. If there is no button they continue pressing the saw down while you are unscrewing it.
- Pull off the blade and fit the new one on the arbor. Worm drive circular saws have a diamond shaped arbor and you have to knock the center out the blade to make the hole in the same shape. Do all this while laying the blade flat on two pieces of wood with the center hanging over the gap between them. Punch out the arbor with the hammer.
- Replace the nut and tighten it with the wrench, keeping the lock nut depressed or the blade pressed in the wooden surface. When the nut is tight, then plug in the saw and replace the battery.
The things which are needed as below:
- Hammer Wooden Surface
- Two pieces of wood
- Wrench or hex wrench
Tip
The proper sized wrench is usually coming with the saw for the loosening of the arbor. Check all the tools properly before working on the arbor.
Warning
Never over tighten the nut of the arbor. Normal operation of the saw is tightening it somewhat and when you are over tightening it then it is very difficult to remove.
It is always recommended to tight the nut properly otherwise there are chances of damage. The proper experience personnel is also recommended for the use of this. So this could be very useful when you are using this wisely.
